Our Opinions Page. The Kids!!! (by Joe)

Why We like Home Education

Joe: I Like HE because I have lots of free time and you can take it at your own pace. I have never been to school. I have really enjoyed the walks and the camps. We went to the HESFES. .

Anna O: I like not being forced to learn against my will, getting to choose what to learn and getting to be more open.

Jack: When I was in pre school there was a horrible boy who picked on me. One of the nice things about it is the fact that we don't put up with bullying at all. You learn to do many other radical things like how to really talk to people. I've got so many good friends. I loved the sponsored walks, workshops, plays, I've got to really enjoy learning. Its not a chore, learning isn't something special its just normal.

Sam: I hate school (shudder). At home, you can work with your friends, not like school where you have to be with people your own age, own intelligence and then you aren't allowed to talk. I don't blame teachers, but they get frustrated and take it out on the kids. In school you get picked on, you are at school all day them they give you loads of homework. I only did one piece of homework.

Holly: I like being myself without pressure from other kids. I find classes outside the Learning Zone are slightly difficult because some kids tease me about home education. You get nice food!

Kez: Its fun! I have more time, more energy, my mind isn't being sucked out all the time. I like having people who share my interests like books, music and Warhammer.

Nicky: I like the learning zone because I've met loads of people, people I really get on with. I like science especially, I'm studying mammals at the moment. If I was at school, I wouldn't be studying Open University materials for a start! I can do thing at my own pace and not do things I wasn't ready for. If you go too slow (at school) they have a go at you, if you go too fast they still have a go.

Toby: I like getting to learn in my own time, getting to do amazing things, enjoying learning in a group and having really good friends and having no bullies.
